Independent Culture - A New Way to Review

http://www.indiecult.com/

This is a relatively new review site, started this year, that focuses on Indie Cult content including music, movies, and books. Their reviews differ from most other review sites because they don't use any kind of rating system, they feel that a numerical system doesn't do justice to truly great artists and that it's actually insulting them. They also don't limit the genres that they cover, "If we like it and find that is deserves our attention we’ll write about it" is what they say about their content. Another great part of their reviews is that they don't focus only on what's in the spotlight at the time, they find artists that might slip by unnoticed by the general public and because of this they find some excellent indie artists that you might not have heard about otherwise. Besides their reviews of the usual cds, concerts, and movies (usual being a relative term) they also add in some interesting interviews.

In my experiences their interviews are much more intimate than some websites. They don't use the same old band interview cliches like "’How has success affected you?’ and ‘Where do you get your inspiration?’" as stated by one of their interviewers Eric K. Indie Cult's interviews teach you about the artist's journey and about the person themself, an excellent way to represent artists that you have been, or will be, listening to often.

I would recommend you nose around a bit and see if you find anything you enjoy, it's a great resource to find new artists that you could be interested in no matter you taste.

Musicians of the Tube

I was shown this excellent musician on YouTube today. He's got about 10 videos of songs, mostly ones he wrote, and they're all extremely well done. This one happens to be called Sentimental which I liked a lot. One of the covers he has done is of Third Eye Blind's "How' it Going to Be" if your at all interested in them.

If you want to check him out you can see the rest of his videos at:

Also, there is a hilarious video called Amateur made with some crazy editing(by a different artist). Really you have to see it to understand:

So it begins..

I've decided to venture into the world of the blog, as you can see, though I'm not quite sure what I'll be talking about. I'm sure I can find some lovely topics to discuss. I spend a lot of time surfing the web and enjoying music so expect plenty of opinions on some of my favorite bands, some more obscure than others. Hope this turns out to be a fun experience!
