Games, Computers, and battling Spoons.

Well first of all I just finished reading an interview with the Game Director for Age of Conan:
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=146522

I've been looking at it for awhile, trying to decide on my next MMO, and it sounds like an amazing game! Much more action and story oriented than most cliche, point-and-click, grind-your-ass-off, WoW clones that are around the market these days, can't wait til next christmas!

Also, my new computer seems to be a go...almost got enough money (it's gonna be just under 1,100) I've had some second thoughts but it'll probably be for the best. I've been having trouble deciding on what parts to use with mixed reviews and tutorials, but I've got a good two months to worry about it. Hopefully by then Vista well be working properly.

On the concert front i went to Battle of the Bands last night and it was quite a show. The first couple were enjoyable, had some good musicians and song choices, but the last two were the interesting ones. The last band was The Casual Fridays, somewhat famous around campus, they were expected to be one of the best and they did end up winning...enjoyed them a lot. The interesing band was 1000 Plastic Spoons. I'm friends with most of them, or are at least acquainted, they did a blow out job...for freshman. In song choices and musicians they were very close to Casual Fridays, I'm sure the juniors and seniors were not happy to see such competition from freshman....nothing bad happened though, was an honorable show.

Next year should be interesting...Spoons are a shoe in and Infrastructure is thinking about trying out...hopefully we actually do something RIGHT this time.

Holiday

Four days til christmas! Always a good thought. Will be gettin my bass, can't wait, it is such a fun instrument. My band, Suave and the Normies has been working on some tunes, namely one Raconteurs-esque one. We don't have any lyrics or titles yet but they're some nice jams that we could work on. We don't have our own Purevolume quite yet but here's one of the guitarists in SatN, my friend Mike:

Otherwise...just waiting til Friday when I'm finally free. Don't see many concerts soon that I can go to. There's the Trans-Siberian Orchestra at either the Civic Center or Madison Square Gardens sometime next week and my friends plan to go to an O.A.R.concert which is probably in New York. Dunno if I'll see either of em.

Til next time...

96.5tic-FM All Star Christmas

This concert was pretty sick...lineup was Five for Fighting, Daughtry, KT Tunstall, Smashmouth, Goo Goo Dolls, Barenaked Ladies, and Guster. We had a fun time, the two or three rows of people that I was with ended up going down near the floor (I wish we had gone all the way up to the stage) and went pretty much crazy, there was a lot of drunk people around us, lot of spillt beer, and what smelled like pot...anyways...

Concert was good, starting bands weren't amazing and it was way too quiet in the beginning. When Smashmouth was up it was just like a wall of distortion with Steve Harwell's voice kinda drifting in and out. After that the sound was good and the bands were great. Daughtry and Guster rocked, Five for Fighting was a good chillax break from the rock then BNL went up followed by GGD and the concert ended with a bang. Over all it was a fun time, plenty of Facebook picks from my friends too, I'll put some of them up perhaps.

Suave and the Normies

Well my band, SatN(Suave and the Normies), got together finally this weekend. We played some nice tunes...RHCP stuff...i busted out the brushes for some Chasing Cars and How to Save a Life (for those of you who don't know I'm a drummer). We also worked on a jam we've been piecing together. I hope it turns into something good...with a little more structure it could be an excellent song. It starts out slow and it kinda fades off into a pause...I click off and go into some sweet rhythms alongside the bass and the guitars slowly add in. Its hard to think of the basic melody...kinda shifts around a bit...I just try to follow along. I don't have a double bass but I was trying some quick, repetitive hits which was SICK but painful as hell on the ankles and legs. Anyways, we sounded pretty good in general...need to put together some actual tunes though.

I also finally ordered my bass...they were out of metallic red so I was stuck with the blue but it still looks pretty nice...I've already gotten the amp but the guitar should come by Christmas.

Pumped for the concert at the Civic Center on Tuesday...should be pretty sick, Goo Goo Dolls and some other good stuff is playing. Not all my favorites but still, worth going.
