Age of Conan pushed back to 2008

Funcom announced today that they're pushing the release of Age of Conan back (again) to March 25, 2008. With this push Age of Conan will have officially been delayed three years and I doubt the community is responding too well to that. Now the game will be releasing just behind Warhammer Online which may affect sales if people decide to invest in it instead.

This push doesn't come as much of a surprise though. Funcom has released very little content for a game that was scheduled to release in just three months and with lacking quality and content for Beta testers it is probably for the best that Funcom is providing themselves with an extra five months to polish it up. I think we can all agree we'd rather have an excellent, completed game half a year later than a rushed finished just to make a release date. We don't need a repeat of Vanguard.

Games, Computers, and battling Spoons.

Well first of all I just finished reading an interview with the Game Director for Age of Conan:

I've been looking at it for awhile, trying to decide on my next MMO, and it sounds like an amazing game! Much more action and story oriented than most cliche, point-and-click, grind-your-ass-off, WoW clones that are around the market these days, can't wait til next christmas!

Also, my new computer seems to be a go...almost got enough money (it's gonna be just under 1,100) I've had some second thoughts but it'll probably be for the best. I've been having trouble deciding on what parts to use with mixed reviews and tutorials, but I've got a good two months to worry about it. Hopefully by then Vista well be working properly.

On the concert front i went to Battle of the Bands last night and it was quite a show. The first couple were enjoyable, had some good musicians and song choices, but the last two were the interesting ones. The last band was The Casual Fridays, somewhat famous around campus, they were expected to be one of the best and they did end up winning...enjoyed them a lot. The interesing band was 1000 Plastic Spoons. I'm friends with most of them, or are at least acquainted, they did a blow out job...for freshman. In song choices and musicians they were very close to Casual Fridays, I'm sure the juniors and seniors were not happy to see such competition from freshman....nothing bad happened though, was an honorable show.

Next year should be interesting...Spoons are a shoe in and Infrastructure is thinking about trying out...hopefully we actually do something RIGHT this time.

Well I've been getting back into gaming lately...plenty of Unreal Tournament 2004 and Minion of Mirth. I should be getting a new, Windows, computer custom made. Probable just gonna build it myself. Gonna try and get Everquest 2. Can't wait for some news on Hero's Journey. Looks like it could be a great game with that unique engine that they built, the MMO market needs some fresh ideas.

On the topic of HJ, if I do get this excellent computer I'll be back into the MMO market putting me in a good place for HJ beta, assuming its not vaporware as rumors are saying. I wonder what other new MMOs are in the woodwork...Diablo 3 maybe? Or a Starcraft based RPG of some sort? Certainly surprised to hear Ultima Online is still up and running.

Some of these upcoming MMOs are intriguing too...I'll have to look out for some betas over the summer. Dungeons and Dragons Online, Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, interesting market.

Now that I've made up for my lack of gaming news since forever perhaps I can get into some specifics next time I post.
